On November 2, the JHU American Marketing Association hosted its annual regional conference. The conference’s theme, “New Technologies and The Customer Experience,” inspired presenters like JHU alum Rachel Reed (2014, KSAS, International/Global Studies) to share tactics like augmented reality that her publishing firm, Meredith, uses to increase engagement. Rachel, pictured here, presented her Periodic Table of Innovation—adapted by Rachel herself. Other keynote speakers from Merkle and Amazon, also described how new technologies impact their businesses.
This year’s case competition featured a custom case written by alum Jason Budden (2002, KSAS, Economics) of Go Ape—a network of outdoor adventure parks with a social mission. Drawing students from 9 universities and 11 case teams, the competition was tight! Sharing a pool of $500 in prize money, the 11 marketing practitioner judges awarded first place to University of Pennsylvania with JHU teams placing second and third.
