A recent article on The Hill featured US Senator Chris Murphy from Connecticut as a rising voice in the Democratic Party. The article, titled “Murphy draws attention with calls for Democratic shift in strategy,” describes how prominent figures in the party are demanding a new strategy to reach new and lost voters, including Murphy.
In the article, Len describes how Trump’s style and tone were key to his success in the most recent presidential election, arguing that style is a key persuasive element in modern political campaigns. Democrats, in contrast, were unable to employ style to persuade voters, Len said.
“Style is content in the modern political age, and I hate to say it, but [Trump] was stylistically of the moment, and we were out of sync,” Len said.
