IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR EMPLOYERS

BEFORE THE EVENT:

  1. All attendees must register in order to gain access to the event. Register here.
  2. In order to register, all attendees must create an account with Hopin. We promise it’s quick and easy! When creating your account, please list your company name and title in the “Headline” section of your profile.
  3. After completing your registration, please reserve a booth for your organization by completing this form: https://centerforleadershipeducation.formstack.com/forms/expo_booth. In order to outfit your booth, you will be asked to provide logo images and links to your company website and social media accounts. Please complete only one form per organization.*

*Please note that employers MUST reserve a booth for the event in order to engage with students during the Industry Expo. There is no charge associated with booth reservation.

 

DURING THE EVENT:

  1. Use the menu on the left side of the Hopin screen to navigate the event.
  2. The event will begin with a 30-minute speed-networking round. In this round, students will be randomly matched with employers in a one-on-one video chat. After entering into the Networking session, click the “Ready” button to begin sharing your audio and video.
  3. If you would like to exchange contact information with a student during your chat, click the “Connect” button. At the end of the event, Hopin will send you a list of all connections made + their contact information.
  4. Networking chats are capped at 3 minutes, but you can end a session earlier if you choose to by clicking the “Leave” button.
  5. At the conclusion of the speed-networking round, travel over to the Expo and find and click on your organization’s booth to enter.
  6. Once inside your booth, click the “Participate” button to begin sharing your audio and video. Here is a video exploring the Hopin booth experience.
  7. In your booth, you can engage with students by using the chat feature or by creating polls for your booth visitors, such as asking students for their major, graduation year, professional interests, etc.
  8. Students can also choose to share their video and audio to engage with employers. A maximum of 10 participants at a time can share video in a Hopin booth.

  3. Prepare by reading these articles for guidance on how to make the most of online networking opportunities:
  4. Finalize your resume and have it handy in case you are asked to share it. Consult the guides the Life Design Lab has developed or sign up for a resume and cover letter lab: https://studentaffairs.jhu.edu/life-design/students/resumes/
  5. Update your LinkedIn profile.
  6. Review the committed employers and make a list in advance of the organizations with which you most want to engage during the event.
  7. Create a list of questions and information you wish to share about yourself with potential employers. Consult the CLE networking guide for more information on how to prepare to network with industry professionals.

 

DURING THE EVENT:

  3. If you would like to exchange contact information with an employer during your chat, click the “Connect” button. At the end of the event, Hopin will send you a list of all connections made + their contact information. (Please note a connection is only made when both parties have clicked the “Connect” button.)
  4. Networking chats are capped at 3 minutes, but you can end a session earlier if you choose to by clicking the “Leave” button.
  5. At the conclusion of the speed-networking round, please give employers a few minutes to settle into their booths and begin sharing video. When you are ready to begin entering employers’ booths, navigate over to the Expo using the left-side menu.
  6. Click the “Participate” button to begin sharing your audio and video with employers. Please note that only 10 people can share video in a booth at a time, so be mindful that others may be waiting to engage with employers. Be respectful of attending employers and your fellow students by entering and exiting booth video chats in a polite and timely fashion.
  7. You can also engage with employers using the chat feature or by responding to any polls they have created.
