Kunal Parikh is a research associate in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Whiting School of Engineering and the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He works in the Center for Bioengineering Innovation and Design, as well Center for Nanomedicine at the Wilmer Eye Institute. 

Parikh’s research focuses primarily on nanomaterials, drug delivery, and medical devices designed to integrate safely with human tissue and modulate the post-operative infection, inflammation, and scarring in order to reduce complications and improve surgical efficacy. He leads a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and clinicians working to develop biomedical solutions for significant and unmet clinical needs, with a particular focus on ophthalmology.

He received his bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University in 2012 and completed his Ph.D at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 2017.
