The American Chemical Society has elected Michael Bevan, a professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, to its 2016 class of Fellows. The highly selective ACS fellows program began in 2008.
The 2016 class includes 57 scientists who have demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in chemistry and made important contributions to ACS, the world’s largest scientific society. The new fellows were celebrated at the ACS national meeting in Philadelphia in August 2016.
The citation for Dr. Bevan’s ACS Fellowship stated:
Contribution to the science/profession: Recognized for significant contributions in the measurement, modeling, and manipulation of colloidal interactions, dynamics, and assembly to understand and design the behavior and properties of nanomaterials and soft matter. Contribution to the ACS community: Served the Division of Colloid and Surface Chemistry as the Victor K. LaMer Award Committee Chair, Summer Symposium Committee Chair, Executive Committee member, and Strategic Planning Committee member.
