Honggang Cui, assistant professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, has received a 3M Nontenured Faculty Award.

Honggang CuiIn its 26th year, this award recognizes outstanding junior faculty whose research and academic leadership are exemplary. According to 3M, the award gives nontenured academic faculty the opportunity to interact with their peers, as well as 3M scientists.

Cui’s research focuses on designing cancer-fighting nano-size structures that could assemble themselves and deliver treatment to diseased tissue. This 3M Award supports Cui’s work on the development of supramolecular polymers and hydrogels for biomedical applications.

Cui won the National Science Foundation’s prestigious Early CAREER Award in 2013 for his efforts to produce a more effective and targeted way to provide cancer treatment.
