Senior lecturer Carmo Pereira wins prestigious catalysis award
Carmo Pereira, senior lecturer in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, has been awarded the 2018 Catalysis Club of Philadelphia Award. This prestigious award recognizes an outstanding member of the catalysis community who has made significant scientific, technological, or organizational leadership contributions to the advancement of catalysis.
Pereira, who joined the department in 2015, has also served as a DuPont Fellow since 1997. His research interests include catalysis and reaction engineering in chemical engineering practice. He is principal division consultant in the Reaction Engineering Group at DuPont Engineering Technology, specializing in the design and optimization of reactors and processes.
The Catalysis Club of Philadelphia was founded in 1949 to promote the advancement of knowledge of the science of catalysis. It is a nonprofit organization providing opportunities for members in the Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, and Delaware area, and promotes and supports the involvement of students in the science of catalysis.
