Jenny Sun, a PhD candidate in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, was selected as one of three winners of the inaugural Empower Your Pitch competition. The inter-university competition was hosted in collaboration with The University of Texas at Austin and Columbia University and took place at the Johns Hopkins Imagine Center.
Sun received the Outstanding Creativity in Research Communication award with her pitch “Gel Miracle: A new Hope to Cure Brain Cancer Patients.” The presentation highlighted Sun’s communication skills and the value of the research to the audience.
The competition included 11 doctoral presenters from the three universities and winners were determined by a panel of local judges from a range of industries.
Other winners included Julia Davis-Porada from Columbia University and Brandy Routh from UT Austin.
