ChemBE convocation was held Thursday, April 27. Nominations for awards were submitted by faculty and students. Full list of winners below.

Joseph L. Katz Award: Presented to seniors for academic excellence in their senior lab course.

Winners: Benjamin Biggs, Deval Patel

Rachel Reichner Memorial Award: Dedicated to the memory of Rachel Reichner, Class of 2016, who was an outstanding ChemBE student. Granted to an outstanding junior who shares Rachel’s great enthusiasm for engineering, dedication to academic excellence, and community spirit.

Winner: Isaac Diaz

Sarah K. Doshna Research Award: For demonstrated outstanding contributions to ChemBE research.

Winners: George Arsnow, Yiran (Gigi) Wang, Jenna Wolfanger, Xin (Jason) Zhang

Francis J. Fisher Research Award: An endowed gift to be held in perpetuity for an annual award to be given to a junior who is excelling academically and engaged in basic or applied cancer research. Funds from the award will benefit the student’s lab research, a summer stipend, or cover expenses for conference attendance to present research findings.

Winner: Yuseong (Nick) Oh

Paul A.C. Cook Award: Given to outstanding juniors who are the best “all-around” students. This is determined by academic achievements, research/internships, sports, extracurriculars, service, and leadership.

Winners: Kellen Roddy, Triya Roy, Tiara Safaei

Loy Wilkinson Award: For a senior who has demonstrated a record of academic excellence, leadership, and service.

Winners: Jimmy Hu, Devan Patel, Xin (Jason) Zhang

American Institute of Chemical Engineers Award: Presented to the student with the highest academic standing at the end of their sophomore year.

Winners: Nubaira Milki, Yiran (Gigi) Wang, Yuhan Wu, Noah Zahn

Undergraduate TA Award: Given in recognition of an undergraduate teaching assistant who has substantially contributed to the educational experience of students.

Winner: T.J. Kim, Xin (Jason) Zhang

Graduate TA Award: Given in recognition of a graduate teaching assistant who has substantially contributed to the educational experience of students.

Winners: Paul Sargunas, Le Minh Hieu (Henry) Tran

Undergraduate Student Award in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Winners: Helena Hall-Thomsen, Callie Jones

Graduate Student Award in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Faculty Award in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Winner: Dr. Nagma Zerin
