The Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (ChemBE) Committee on Diversity and Inclusion (CDI) in partnership with the AIChE JHU Student Chapter has announced the first-ever beneficiaries of the ChemBE CDI Undergraduate Conference Fund: Anshika Agrawal and Joshua Montano.

This pioneering fund is specifically designed to promote diversity by enabling undergraduate students from varied backgrounds to become the face of the JHU ChemBE community at national conferences. While in the past, undergraduate students primarily received funds targeting research-based projects, this initiative broadens the scope. As ambassadors of JHU ChemBE, Agrawal and Montano will actively contribute to AIChE’s diversity initiatives, champion inclusion strategies, and spotlight the department’s diverse ethos at career fairs.

Agrawal and Montano will be sponsored to attend the 2023 AIChE Annual Student Conference, taking place in Orlando, FL, from Nov. 3-6. The backing from ChemBE CDI covers their hotel stay, transportation, and conference registration.
