At the Whiting School of Engineering 2023 Teaching and Mentorship Awards Celebration, held April 4, two faculty members associated with the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering were recognized. The awards are “given to teachers, researchers, and administrators who have consistently supported the personal and professional development of their students,” and nominations are supported by letters of recommendation from students and faculty.

Sakul Ratanalert, senior lecturer, was named as the 2023 recipient of the Capers and Marion McDonald Award for Excellence in Mentoring and Advising, presented by Paulette Clancy, department head.

“Dr. Ratanalert exemplifies the qualities of an exceptional mentor and advisor,” Clancy said. “He gives selflessly of his time to the 120 students under his care as the director of graduate studies for the master’s program. And, in good measure, has consistently acted as an inspired mentor to our 300-plus undergraduates.”
