Anne Hosler was a recipient of the department’s Joseph. L. Katz Award for excellent performance in the Senior Laboratory course in 2015.
My name is Annie Hosler and I am a Senior Chemical and Biomolecular Engineer from Piedmont, CA. I am also pursuing a minor in Entrepreneurship and Management. While at Hopkins, I have been actively involved in many social and academic activities on campus, including Pi Beta Phi, Theta Tau, and Club Volleyball. ChemBE at Hopkins has given me the opportunity to learn valuable skills both inside and outside the classroom.
Throughout my four years at Hopkins, I have both worked in a lab and in industry. I worked in the Mechanical Engineering Department under Dr. Katz, looking at the fluid dynamics of oil and sea water. Most recently, I interned at McCormick & Co. Inc., where I developed global engineering standards and redesigned a steam piping configuration.
While at Hopkins, my favorite classes have been Transport I and Transport II. I am passionate about fluid dynamics and I loved learning how to describe complicated dynamic systems with relatively simple equations. My Hopkins experience has been invaluable to both my personal and professional life. I would encourage all student to expand their horizons while at Hopkins and try something new. You never know where you will end up!
