Raman Arora, assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science, is a recipient of the National Science Foundation’s Early CAREER Award.

Arora’s research focuses on algorithmic and computational aspects of machine learning. Raman’s five-year CAREER award will support his project, “Understanding Inductive Biases in Modern Machine Learning,” which will focus on developing an explanatory and prescriptive theory of deep learning that is tightly integrated with and motivated by the practice.

The Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program is a Foundation-wide activity that offers the National Science Foundation’s most prestigious awards in support of early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education and to lead advances in the mission of their department or organization.
