Joy Goswami, senior director of corporate engagement for the Whiting School of Engineering’s Office of Research and Translation, has been named chair-elect of AUTM, the Association of University Technology Managers, Inc., a global non-profit whose members support the commercialization of academic research. The chair serves as the official spokesperson for AUTM’s board and provides strategic leadership to the board. 

The announcement was made at the organization’s annual conference in San Diego at the end of February. Goswami will begin his term at the organization’s annual meeting set for March 2025 in Washington, DC. 

At WSE, Goswami leverages his experience in technology transfer from the medical device and pharmaceutical industries to facilitate collaboration between Johns Hopkins researchers and external partners, including industry, government agencies, academia, and foundations.   

Goswami has more than twenty years of experience in technology transfer and is a registered patent agent for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He is also a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR/STTR) reviewer for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and a Howard Bremer Scholar, conferred by AUTM. He earned his registration as a technology transfer professional (RTTP) from the Alliance of Technology Transfer Professionals.
