Jeremy D. Brown, the John. C. Malone Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, is a recipient of the National Science Foundation’s Early CAREER Award, which recognizes early stage scholars with high levels of promise and excellence.

Brown’s work explores the interface between humans and robots, with a specific focus on medical applications and haptic feedback. His five-year award, “Improving Prosthesis Usability through Enhanced Touch Feedback and Intelligent Control,” will support the fundamental research needed to develop novel prostheses that intelligently interact with the world like our natural limbs and provide wearers with haptic (touch-based) information about those interactions.
