The American Chemical Society has elected Michael Bevan, a professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, to its 2016 class of Fellows.
Specifically, the Fellow of the American Chemical Society (ACSF) designation is awarded to a member who, in some capacity, has made exceptional contributions to the science or profession and has provided excellent volunteer service to the ACS community.
Bevan and 56 other new fellows will be celebrated at the ACS national meeting, set for August 21 through 25 in Philadelphia.
Dr. Bevan’s laboratory research focuses on measuring and manipulating nanoparticle and biomolecular interactions, dynamics, and structures in interfacial and confined systems. The group’s findings have direct relevance to traditional complex fluid/soft matter applications (e.g. coatings, ceramics, consumer products) and emerging nanotechnologies involving particle-based materials (e.g. metamaterials, drug delivery) and devices (e.g. antennas, diagnostics).
