Axel Krieger, an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and member of the Laboratory for Computational Sensing and Robotics, on receiving the National Science Foundation’s Early CAREER Award, which recognizes early stage scholars with high levels of promise and excellence.
Axel’s work focuses on the development of innovative tools, image guidance, and robot-control techniques for medical robotics. His CAREER project, “Advancing autonomy for soft tissue robotic surgery and interventions,” aims to shed light on soft tissue behavior to improve autonomous robot controllers, making surgery safer and more accurate.
