Deok-Ho Kim is a professor of biomedical engineering whose research spans the disciplinary boundaries between nanotechnology, biomaterials, and mechanobiology, with an emphasis on applications to tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. His lab focuses on the development and application of bio-inspired materials and devices and functional tissue engineering models for elucidating regenerative biology, drug screen, disease modeling, and cell-based therapies. He joined Johns Hopkins in 2019.
Kim received his bachelor’s in mechanical engineering at Pohang University of Science and Technology in 1998, a master’s in mechanical and aerospace engineering at Seoul National University in 2000, and a PhD in biomedical engineering at the Johns Hopkins University in 2010.
