
Members of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering have been recognized for their outstanding dedication to teaching and student mentorship as part of the Whiting School of Engineering’s annual Excellence in Teaching, Advising, and Mentoring Awards.
Lecturer Lucas Buccafusca received the Robert B. Pond, Sr. Excellence in Teaching Award, honoring faculty who demonstrate an exceptional ability to engage and inspire students in the classroom.
Assistant research professor Laureano Moro Velazquez was awarded the Whiting School of Engineering Excellence in Teaching Award, which recognizes faculty who have made significant contributions to the learning environment and foster a deep understanding of course material.
Graduate student and teaching assistant Agustin Castellano earned the Whiting School of Engineering Teaching Assistant Award for his exemplary support of students and faculty, as well as his commitment to academic excellence in his role as a graduate teaching assistant.
These awards, presented by the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association and the Whiting School, celebrate individuals who go above and beyond to foster a culture of inclusion, promote student success, and make a lasting impact on the Hopkins engineering community. Winners were selected based on nominations from students, faculty, staff, and alumni, and were celebrated at the school’s annual awards luncheon on April 1.
