This area covers a number of topics in emerging computation systems and devices, applied neuroscience, hardware-friendly algorithms, and integrated circuits. In particular, we have a long track record at the leading edge of the neuromorphic engineering revolution, and we have recently begun working in the development of bioelectronics and neuroprosthetics. Similarly, mixed-mode VLSI design, sensory systems, lab-on-a-chip and unconventional computer architectures for “beyond Moore’s Law” application are internationally recognized strengths of this area at JHU.

Primary ECE faculty members in this area are: Andreas Andreou, Ralph Etienne-Cummings, Amy Foster, Robert Glaser, Pedro Irazoqui, and Philippe Pouliquen.
