Rebecca Schulman, associate professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, has received the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), the highest honor bestowed by the United States government on science and engineering professionals in the early stages of their independent research careers. Her PECASE is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy.
The PECASE acknowledges the contributions scientists and engineers have made to the advancement of STEM education and to community service as demonstrated by scientific leadership, public education, and community outreach.
Schulman is an expert in developing programmable, active devices that self-assemble from DNA. Her research group focuses on molecular electronic devices and tools for biological and biophysical research.
