Johns Hopkins University’s engineering graduate programs have again been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as among the nation’s best. The publication’s annual Best Graduate Schools rankings, released today, put the Whiting School of Engineering’s programs at No. 13 nationally, tied with UCLA.

The rankings evaluate graduate engineering programs through a detailed assessment process that includes a comprehensive set of factors, including a school’s research expenditures, faculty productivity, admissions selectivity, and feedback from professional peers and employers who hire the school’s graduates. Last year, the methodology expanded to include bibliometric data—including publications and citations—as new overall ranking indicators.

Specialty rankings are on reputation as measured by peer evaluations. The biomedical engineering graduate program, part of both the schools of Engineering and Medicine, retained its No. 1 spot.

Other Hopkins Engineering graduate programs in the top 20 include:

  • Computer Engineering: No. 17 (tied)
  • Computer Science (AI): No. 20
  • Electrical Engineering: No. 18 (tied)
  • Environmental Engineering: No. 15 (tied)
  • Materials Engineering: No. 18 (tied)
  • Mechanical Engineering: No. 10 (tied)
