EHE's Ciaran Harman Appointed Russell Croft Faculty Scholar

The Russell Croft Faculty Scholarship, a five-year appointment, was endowed by L. Gordon Croft ’56 in order to help the Whiting School of Engineering retain outstanding faculty members.

Harman’s work focuses on understanding the complex dynamics of water flow through the landscape, and finding ways to connect the multi-scale space-time variability of that flow with tractable model representations. Studying the emergent hydrologic properties of landscapes is relevant to our understanding of how the earth’s surface functions as a life-supporting system, how we can make predictions about water resources in areas without long stream gauge records, and how hydrologic processes affect water chemistry and the transport of contaminants.
