Chad Clapsaddle will join the Whiting School as associate dean for finance and administration, effective April 17, 2017.
Clapsaddle has been a member of the Johns Hopkins community since 2013, when he joined the university’s Planning and Budget Office as Senior Director of Budgets. In this role, he has been responsible for the formulation of the university’s annual budget and five-year plan, for quarterly financial reporting for university leadership and trustees, and for various ad hoc special projects and work groups. He has worked closely with university divisions to enhance communication between the divisions and central university leadership regarding financial performance. Clapsaddle has provided guidance for budget development and helped develop business plans to support requests for major capital project investment. His responsibilities have included working with Whiting School leadership on a 10-year financial plan to support our strategic priorities.
Prior to his position at Johns Hopkins, Clapsaddle enjoyed a nearly 20-year career in Maryland State government, where he served in a variety of roles, including policy analyst for the Maryland General Assembly and Executive Director of the State’s Office of Capital Budgeting, where he served as the chief advisor to Maryland’s governors on capital budget matters.
