Howie, who was chosen as the result of a national search, has worked in the Whiting School’s Office of Development and Alumni Relations for the past 11 years.

She was appointed director of Development in 2009, and has served as the school’s interim associate dean since last July, following Rob Spiller’s appointment as associate vice president for development for the Homewood schools.

Howie’s accomplishments during her Whiting School tenure are numerous and include an impressive track record in fundraising, launching the school’s magazine in 2002, managing the Society of Engineering Alumni, creating the Whiting School’s Technology Commercialization Advisory Board, and playing a major supporting role in Knowledge for the World, the university’s last fundraising campaign.

Says Dean Nick Jones, “Megan is a natural leader. She also understands and has built strong relationships with our alumni and has an innate understanding of development. I have never ceased to be impressed by her dedication to her job, consummate professionalism, energy, and the skill and creativity with which she pursues her work, and I know that she is ready to meet the challenges of the coming years.”
