Mario Micheli, a senior lecturer in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics, is an applied mathematician whose scientific interests lie in the areas of image processing, computer vision, differential geometric methods for shape analysis, variational methods, data science, and applied statistics. His work focuses on the modeling, measurement, quantification, and statistics of deformations, in both the analysis of shape and in the processing of imaging and video data.
He received his Laurea in Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Padova (Italy) in 1999; an MS in Electrical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, in 2001; and a PhD in Applied Mathematics at Brown University in 2008.
