The Hopkins–APL Master’s Scholars Program is a unique collaboration between the Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering and the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, the nation’s largest university-affiliated research center. This program offers exceptional U.S. master’s students in participating programs a 2027 paid summer research experience at APL, where they engage in cutting-edge projects across defense, health, space exploration, and emerging technologies.

MS/MSE Internship Program Eligibility Requirements:

  • US Citizenship 
  • Applicant for Fall 2026
  • Enrolled in MSE program focused on the 12 approved programs noted above
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA for undergraduate degree
  • Ability to obtain interim or final security clearance prior to internship start date
  • Successful completion on onboarding requirements for APL Internship (drug and background screenings)
  • Must maintain 3.5 GPA in program
