Congratulations are in order for R. Jacob Vogelstein, a former Electrical and Computer Engineering assistant research professor. On January 9, 2017, The White House announced the recipients of the Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE). President Obama announced the names of 102 scientists and researchers as recipients of the PECASE award, which is the highest honor bestowed by the United States Government on science and engineering professionals in the early stages of their independent research careers. Jacob received this honor for his work at the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity where he is the program manager of the Machine Intelligence from Cortical Networks (MICrONS) program and the Knowledge Representation in Neural Systems (KRNS) program.

Jacob Vogelstein is the oldest son of Bert Vogelstein, the director of the Ludwig Center, Clayton Professor of Oncology and Pathology and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator at The Johns Hopkins Medical School and Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center.
