Adebayo Eisape is a senior Computer Engineering major from Jackson, NJ.
How did you get interested in electrical and computer engineering?
I’ve always liked to make things and take things apart to see how they work. When I was little, I lost my favorite toy in the world, which was a remote-controlled Batman car. I decided, “I’ll just make another one.” I started learning about what was necessary and was exposed to a whole new world, and I’ve basically been hooked ever since.
Why did you choose Johns Hopkins?
I decided to come to JHU because I felt it was a place where I would be able to learn from some of the smartest people in the world and participate in meaningful and fulfilling projects and research.
Are you involved in any research in the department?
I’ve been working on an energy harvester with Dr. West, and it has been a huge learning experience for me. I’ve designed and assembled the system using CAD and 3D printing, measured the frequency response, and experimented with different film and charging combinations (as it is electret based).
Are you involved with any groups here at Johns Hopkins?
I’m on the robotics club. The last project we did was an outdoor gaming theater. It projected (retro) games on the side of Krieger that passers by could play using a giant controller we made. We’re currently working on a robotic tour guide called Robojay to give part of a tour to visitors and prospective students.
