This program is a unique platform for recognizing and rewarding the nation’s most outstanding and innovative undergraduate and graduate students and showcasing the emerging ideas and inventions that will shape our future. The Collegiate Inventors Competition offers students an opportunity that is even more valuable than these prizes — the chance to network with fellow innovators and receive the incomparable advice and encouragement of National Inventors Hall of Fame Inductees.

Abstract:

Auscultation is a key tool for detecting cardiac, respiratory, and gastrointestinal diseases. Clinical diagnosis and subsequent analysis suffer in non-ideal surroundings due to signal contamination from environmental noises, especially in emergency and low-resource settings. Developing on existing technology, the smart stethoscope is a digital stethoscope with noise cancellation for use in any noise environment and sophisticated algorithms for automated diagnosis. This solution offers an effective and efficient approach to improving the quality of acquired cardiac and pulmonary signals, subsequent analysis for patient monitoring and tracking, and accessibility to healthcare.
