The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is very proud to congratulate two student research groups on their awards for Best Student Paper at the 2018 International Conference on Pattern Recognition (ICPR). The ICPR is sponsored by the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR) and was held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing, on August 20-24, 2018.

Xing Di, Vishwanath A. Sindagi, and Vishal M. Patel won for their paper titled “GP-GAN: Gender preserving GAN for synthesizing faces from landmarks” and Pramuditha Perera, Mahdi Abavisani, and Vishal M. Patel won for their paper titled “In2I: Unsupervised multi-image-to-image translation using generative adversarial networks”.

The ICPR is the premier international forum on current advances in the fields of pattern recognition, machine learning, computer vision, and on the application of these technologies in various fields.
