James Guest, associate professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, been awarded one the American Society of Civil Engineers’ prestigious 2017 Walter L. Huber Civil Engineering Research Prizes. He was recognized “for research at the forefront of topology optimization, focusing on the rigorous integration of mechanics, optimization, manufacturing and uncertainty quantification.”

Only a few young researchers across all of ASCE receive this honor annually.

Guest will formally accept his Huber at ASCE’s Annual Convention in New Orleans in October.
