Hiroshi Baensch is a senior partner at Mercer, a global consulting firm, based in the New York office. With more than 25 years of benefit consulting experience, he currently serves as the lead retirement consultant and relationship manager for several of the firm’s global clients. Baensch’s focus is on alignment of business and benefit plan strategy.

During the 15 years that Baensch has been with Mercer, he has headed some of Mercer’s largest accounts. Before joining Mercer in 2001, he served at PwC as a director of the Office of Quality in the human resource and benefits administration outsourcing division, and as director and team leader in the retirement benefits consulting division.

Baensch received a BA in Economics and Mathematical Sciences from Johns Hopkins University in 1989. He is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, an Enrolled Actuary, a Fellow in the Conference of Consulting Actuaries, and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He also has attained Black Belt status in Six Sigma, a process improvement methodology and quality framework. During 2015, Baensch completed Wharton’s Executive Development Program, and received a Certificate of Professional Development for successfully completing a customized specialty track at the Wharton School Aresty Institute of Executive Education, with a focus on leadership, strategy, and management topics. Most recently, during 2016, Baensch completed Leading Professional Services Firms, an Executive Education Program at Harvard Business School.
