Centers and Institutes

The Whiting School’s research centers and institutes are tackling some of the most complex and challenging technological problems facing society today. They provide faculty and students with the opportunities and resources they need to be bold, innovative, and entrepreneurial while transforming the sparks of their ideas into real advances that benefit humankind.

Both highly focused and interdisciplinary, our research centers and institutes harness the intellectual power and diverse strengths from across the Whiting School and the university’s other outstanding divisions, including the schools of Arts and Sciences, Medicine, Public Health, Nursing, and the Applied Physics Laboratory.

The Whiting School's academic centers, the Center for Educational Outreach and the Center for Leadership Education, provide programming that further the school's educational mission. The Center for Leadership Education administers the Enterpreneurship and Management program, the most popular minor at Johns Hopkins, and the Center for Educational Outreach provides engineering academic opportunities to underrepresented populations, from elementary through high school.
