Alex Patterson, a materials science PhD student in the Spicer Lab, recently received a Whiting School of Engineering Graduate Leadership Award. This award honors a doctoral student who has made a profound and lasting impact on their department and the broader graduate student community through exceptional service and leadership. She has served on the E-Board of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering’s Materials Graduate Society for three years. According to her peers on the board, Patterson has worked tirelessly to make the Department of Materials Science and Engineering a more welcoming place for all students.
