The ASCE Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) and the Charles Pankow Foundation (CPF) just signed an agreement for a research grant to develop, write and publish the state-of-the-art exemplar procedural guidance to properly execute a performance-based structural fire engineering design in accordance with the new ASCE/SEI 7-16 Appendix E industry standard.
The project team includes four structural engineering firms and four Academic Advisors. Prof. Thomas Gernay will serve as an Academic Advisor, in charge of peer reviewing the design brief and final report, in the team with Thornton Tomasetti.
The project is to be completed in October 2010. The final document will be freely available to the public.
