Jiahao Cheng

Congratulations to Jiahao Cheng, a civil engineering graduate student, on being selected as one of the six finalists for the 2016 Robert J. Melosh Medal. The Robert J. Melosh Medal Competition was inaugurated in 1989 to honor Professor Melosh, a pioneering researcher in finite element methods and former chairman of civil and environmental engineering at Duke.

After an initial call for submissions, six papers are selected as finalists, and their student authors are invited to participate in the second phase of the competition, a symposium at Duke University. This symposium will be held on April 29, 2016 and will feature lectures by the members of the distinguished judging panel, as well as talks by all the selected finalists.

We wish Jiahao the best of luck in the next step of competition and congratulate him on a job well done thus far!
