Ask Mo Alkaysi what his favorite thing about the Civil Engineering Department at Hopkins is, and this is what he’ll tell you: “I like that the faculty are so approachable, and all the students know each other and help each other out. Another great thing is that at Hopkins, civil engineers learn a whole way of thinking. This means when you graduate, you can adapt to anything. Everyone’s going to learn on the job anyway, but as a Hopkins grad, you’ll learn it quicker and be able to come up with your own ways of doing things.”

When Mo isn’t busy with schoolwork, he’s conducting research, mentoring new students as a Freshman Housing Resident Advisor, playing pick-up basketball with friends, or just enjoying the city. “I love exploring Baltimore neighborhoods, like Federal Hill and Fells Point, or go to DC—the proximity you have in Baltimore is awesome!”
