The best way for you to work with the SABES elementary school students is to mentor them in their afterschool program. JHU faculty, undergraduates, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and other staff can form a team of SABES Mentors. These teams are typically structured around a research group led by faculty. The team commits to mentor one afterschool classroom at one grade level for one school year (typically mid-Sept through mid-May). Teams ensure that someone visits the classroom once per week and typically visit in pairs. The pairs typically visit their classroom every other week or every third week during which time they assist students with their afterschool STEM projects.
Training for SABES Mentors typically takes place in early September.
