Broader Impacts
Are you writing a grant proposal and thinking about how you want to address the Broader Impacts requirement? Consider partnering with the CEO! We’ve got a number of existing programs in elementary, middle and high school outreach. And, if given enough notice, we can also work with you to develop something for your NSF grant proposals regarding broader impacts that incorporates our existing programming or possibly, with appropriate budgets included in your proposal, develop something new. If you would like to include some kind of K-12 STEM educational outreach, please contact the CEO at least two months before your submission deadline for time to develop a budget, broader impact plan and letter of collaboration.
Considerations for K-12 Outreach
Who do you want to reach – elementary, middle school or high school students? Elementary, middle or high school teachers? Families? Baltimore City Public School kids? Girls? Students from across the country?
How much time do you want to give to this effort each year of your grant? How much time do you want your grad students to give to this effort? 16 hours? 40 hours? 90 hours? This will impact the type of outreach you can do successfully.
How much money do you want to allocate to this effort? A good rule of thumb is 1-4% of the total grant budget.
What aspect of your research do you most want to share with your K-12 audience?
