Past Competitions
Since 2013, the Center for Educational Outreach has hosted the Hopkins Robotics Cup open to middle and high school VEX Robotics teams. This city-wide VEX Robotics competition features teamwork, troubleshooting, programming, design, and engineering—all skills that students can use later in their academic and professional careers.

2020 - On Saturday, January 25th, 2020, the Center for Educational Outreach at Johns Hopkins University hosted the 8th annual Hopkins Robotics Cup tournament. Eighty-nine teams representing forty-seven schools competed to earn a spot at the Maryland State Championship. This year’s tournament was covered by CBS local. See more here.

2015 - On February 14th, 2015, 45 teams from 29 middle and high schools competed in the Textron Systems Hopkins Robotics Cup in Goldfarb Gym. The following schools sent teams to the Maryland State VEX Championship: Calverton Elementary/Middle School Patterson Park Public Charter School Lakeland Elementary/Middle School Digital Harbor High School Baltimore International Academy Two teams from Patterson Park Public Charter School (Robotic Defenders) and one of the teams from Lakeland Elementary/Middle School (Robolions) won the tournament championship! Baltimore International Academy won the highest award of the day, the Hopkins Robotics Cup.

2014 - The Center for Educational Outreach hosted its second annual Robotics Cup on Saturday, April 5th in the Newton White Athletic Center. Middle school and high school VEX Robotics teams put their machines to the test as they competed for the title of Robotics Cup Champions! A team from Baltimore Polytechnical Institute took home the title in the high school division and the team James McHenry EMS Afterschool Program won the title in the middle school division.
