Project Poster Summary:
AEGEX 3D proposes a mobile 3D-printing system to rapidly build permanent housing for disaster recovery and affordable housing needs. The problem it addresses is the slow and costly rebuilding process in the U.S., where permanent housing can take 2–5 years, leaving hundreds of thousands of people displaced.
The solution is a rover-based robotic construction platform equipped with a hydraulic arm and printer nozzle that can print homes on-site within 24–48 hours, at a cost of $35,000–$55,000 per unit. This system is designed to move across terrain, stabilize itself, and build durable, ready-to-live homes efficiently.
The target markets include:
Affordable housing (large unmet demand, millions of units needed)
Disaster recovery housing (over 1.2 million displaced annually)
The estimated total market opportunity is about $2.3 billion, with initial customers including organizations like FEMA, state emergency agencies, and nonprofits.
Overall, AEGEX 3D offers a faster, scalable, and lower-cost alternative to traditional construction, with potential expansion into military, refugee, and international infrastructure markets.
