Improving Climate Resiliency in Fells Point: Bio-Solar Roofs
- Program: Environmental Health and Engineering
- Course: EN.570.421 Environmental Engineering Design II
- Year: 2026
Project Description:
Our group conducted a climate risk assessment in Fells Point and found that major infrastructure concerns stem from increased flooding and energy shortages. To address both problems, we propose a Bio-Solar roof for the Brown Advisory Building. A Bio-Solar roof implements both green roof and solar panel technology. The green roof will work to reduce flooding and naturally cool the building. Similarly, the solar panels will provide clean power, reducing the burden on the neighborhood’s electrical grid. Both the solar panels and the green roof work together in this dual design to provide natural cooling and structural support for the system.
