AstroJays Rocket Team Project Endurance

Project Description:

Johns Hopkins University’s AstroJays rocketry team presents Endurance, our 2026 entry in the 30,000 ft SRAD category of the International Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC). Endurance marks our first entry at the IREC and is the culmination of a year-long design and manufacturing effort by JHU students, pushing the envelope of what our program has accomplished in high-powered rocketry.

Endurance is a 130lb, 12 ft tall launch vehicle. It is powered by the Hail Mary: a fully student-researched and developed O5415 solid rocket motor utilizing APCP propellant to deliver approximately 39,000Ns of impulse. Every subsystem on Endurance has been designed, built, and tested entirely by JHU students. This project details the engineering decisions, analysis, and test results behind the Endurance launch vehicle.
