Early Detection System for Mental Health Risks in Chinese Primary Schools

Project Description:

This project focuses on developing a privacy-first, story-based system to support early detection of mental health risks in Chinese primary schools. Many students experience emotional distress but do not express it, while teachers and schools lack the resources to monitor each child effectively.

Our solution uses interactive story-based games where students make choices in familiar school scenarios. These choices reflect emotional patterns, allowing the system to analyze responses and generate group-level insights without collecting personal or sensitive data.

The system is designed to be low-stigma, easy to use, and scalable within real school environments. Schools can use the insights to identify trends early and provide timely support. By shifting from reactive responses to proactive awareness, this project aims to improve student well-being in a practical and sustainable way.
