Eliminating Scald Burns in Children and the Elderly

Project Description:

Scald-related injuries from hot water remain a persistent yet preventable cause of burns, particularly among children and the elderly. Despite the existence of certain engineering and educational protective measures, the rate of scald-related injuries in residential settings remains high. This project developed an innovative, low-cost, homeowner installable, and child resistant device designed to eliminate the risk of scalding in residential homes.
