PawseLog – gamified journaling app focusing on improving mental health

Project Description:

PawseLog is a gamified journaling app that makes mental health self-care accessible and engaging for students and young adults. Informed by surveys of 53 participants and in-depth interviews, the app addresses key barriers to consistent journaling: lack of motivation, time constraints, and generic experiences. Users can quickly log mood-tagged entries using text or speech-to-text, receive evidence-based wellbeing suggestions tailored to recent moods, and track reflections over time. A customizable interactive pet, Luna, provides gentle gamified motivation through a happiness bar that grows with user engagement. Additional features include focus sessions with ambient music, customizable reminder notifications, and two calming color themes (Sage Green and Deep Ocean). Built with Material3 design principles, PawseLog prioritizes simplicity, personalization, and a compassionate, low-barrier experience that supports users across a range of mental wellness needs.
