- Program: Center for Leadership Education
- Course: EN.663.657 Innovation and Design
- Year: 2025
Project Description:
DAISY is an AI-powered platform designed to break language barriers in healthcare across rural India, starting with Maharashtra. Rural patients often struggle to communicate symptoms effectively to ASHA workers and doctors due to linguistic diversity, leading to misdiagnoses and treatment delays. DAISY offers real-time medical translation between regional languages and English, enabling frontline health workers to understand and document patient concerns accurately. Our solution leverages India’s Bhashini dataset for high-accuracy, domain-specific translations optimized for healthcare conversations. We aim to integrate DAISY seamlessly into the existing workflows of ASHAs, Primary Health Centers (PHCs), and private healthcare providers through a simple web interface and APIs. By piloting in Pune and Nashik’s rural clusters, we will refine the solution before scaling across India. DAISY empowers inclusive healthcare, improves clinical outcomes, and enhances patient trust paving the way for a healthier, more connected Bharat.
