Three undergraduate students who created a new tool that promises to make the process of “proofreading” maps of the connections between brain cells more accurate and efficient earned a 2023 WSE Dean’s Design Day Award.
New this year, these awards recognized exceptional undergraduate students in each department whose end-of-year projects demonstrated outstanding engineering design skills. Krutal Patel, Rupa Chalavadi, and Vivia Lung were honored for their “Proofreader Evaluation and Analysis toolKit (PEAK) for Nanoscale Connectomics.” The team members presented their project during the Whiting School of Engineering’s annual Design Day, held on May 2.
A demonstration of the ability to recognize and solve complex engineering challenges, inventiveness in the design process, good communication skills, and a full understanding of the underlying technical principles were among the award requirements.
