PURA Recipients

Annie Pan and Virochan Pandit, both first-year students in applied mathematics and statistics, have received grants through JHU’s Provost’s Undergraduate Research Awards (PURA) program to support their research.

The students’ projects are:

  • Annie Pan: A systematic review of interventions to improve youth-police relations and racially inequitable treatment
  • Virochan Pandit: Identifying the fairest voting system using mathematical modeling

The PURA program was created to support and encourage Hopkins undergraduates to engage in independent research and scholarly and creative projects. Through the competitive program, recipients receive $3,000 in discretionary funding to help offset expenses related to their work.
